A writing major, a filmmaker, and a tattoo artist walk into a comic shop. Box Fort Comics was built on a shared love of comics and storytelling. Founded by J. Andrew Calvert, Scott Prather, and W. Scott Calvert, we make the kinds of comics we want to read: daring, heartfelt, mysterious, carefully plotted, thought-provoking, and a little weird.
First rule: no endless series. We’re not here to churn out books—we all have full-time jobs. And the world doesn’t need more content for content’s sake. We’re here to tell stories. Full stories. Nothing’s worse than investing years only to watch a story fall apart at the end (cough Game of Thrones cough). We work hard to respect your investment as a reader. We're not always going to stick the landing, but at Box Fort, we don’t start a story unless we know how it ends.
We’re a small team with different creative interests and backgrounds—spanning art, design, music, film, and more. Each of us is drawn to different kinds of stories, and Box Fort is our place to chase those different passions freely. Whether it’s an all-ages fantasy or a grown-up noir, our goal is to keep following what excites us.
